Alright, let's check out some of the deals:
Nemo makes great backpacking equipment. The Hornet 1P tent weights in at only 2 pounds and is a great compromise between weight and space. The patent-pending Flybar™ volumizing pole clip adds room at the head, where it counts most. Usually you have to auction off a kidney to get a tent of this quality and weight. Not today!
The Osprey Aether AG 60 pack has lots of great features including an Anti-Gravity™ harness and suspended mesh back panel. 60L ensures you will have plenty of room for a 7-10 day backpacking trip. The top also converts into a day pack - perfect for side trip summits!
Satellite communication devices are no longer a luxury item for backpackers and hunters headed deep into the backcountry. Our top pick for a satellite device is the inReach series. The Mini is a great choice if you are a minimalist, and the larger Explorer+ ($100 off!) gives you more features and mapping capability in a slightly larger package. Either way, they will help keep you safe when the unexpected occurs in the backcountry.
Black Diamond is known for high quality gear, and their headlamp lineup is no exception. Take a look at the Spot 325 headlamp. It's a backcountry favorite for it's high powered 235 lumen output, and its long battery life (200 hours on low). With tons of features and a comfortable fit, this headlamp will have a permanent place in your backpack.
Clothing and Footwear
Patagonia at closeout prices! Patagonia makes many cult favorite pieces - items like the Better Sweater 1/4 Zip Pullover, and of course the Nano Puff Jacket! The Nano Puff is a favorite with ultralight backpackers. It compacts down into nothing, and only weighs 11.9oz!
The Salomon Quest 4D might be the most comfortable backpacking boot we have tried on. They are even the boot of choice for the Navy SEALS! The Quest 4D has lots of support and cushioning for heavy loads and high mileage. If you want something on the lighter side with more flex, try the X Ultra Mid 3 hiking boots. We used a pair for two years and absolutely loved them. Comfortable right out of the box, the Ultra Mid boots have more cushioning and stability than running shoes, with less stiffness than straight up backpacking books. If you are in the market for good trail running shoes, make sure to check out the Speedcross series.
There are a couple pieces of outdoor clothing that we would wear every day if possible. One of those is a pair of Altra shoes (Timp 2 shown above). The zero drop took a little getting used to, but now they feel like a pair of lightweight slippers. There is a reason they are well loved by the thru hiking crowd! Our pick is either the Timp 2 or Lone Peak 4.5.
With Arc'teryx, you generally pay a premium price for a premium product. But now you can save big time on quality pieces like this Women's Beta AR Jacket. Weighing only 13oz, it is fully windproof and waterproof with a GORE-TEX lining. Added pit zips and a helmet compatible hood make this the perfect backcountry skiing jacket!
